Mineral Make-up: Safe for your skin?

Question: So is Mineral Make-up all that great?

Answer: This is the new buzz word right now in the make-up industry. Mineral make-up, make-up that is good for the skin. Or is it really? There have been a lot of claims about how good mineral make-up is that celebrities have resorted to having it in their kits. It claims to be free from preservatives, talc, oil and fragrance that might annoy your skin and sometimes irritate it. I tried it out and so far I have good results. For one, this make-up is really light on your face. I have tried it on my oily face and it does wonders. It keeps the oil at bay and the coverage lasts long and it gives your face a really healthy glow. Plus, the finish is really great.

The make-up too boasts of having natural SPF 15 coverage. The only setback is dealing with the small particles that land on your clothes when you are using them. I got free samples from an online make-up company instead of buying large quantities when you aren’t sure yet of the effect that it will have on your skin. Yes, I’m all about healthy make-up but I also want to be a responsible consumer. Having a make-up free of a lot of bad stuff is actually great but consumers should also be responsible and check out the ingredients of the mineral make-up that they are buying. There have been comments from some users that using mineral make-up was not really great for their skin. So buyers be extremely cautious and don’t just jump on the bandwagon. Be sure to review, compare and test things out before you buy them and use them. In closing though, the samples that I got have been great on my face.

Toxic Friends on Toxic Forums

Question: Dear POISE, I recently joined a help forum online and I do love the discussions about certain topics and in meeting new people who share some of my concerns until I noticed that this one member was talking about another member in a bad “behind her back” way. Can people be this mean? Should I stop my visits to the site? Does this really happen often at help forums online?-SAHM

Answer: Hi SAHM, thanks for airing out your concern regarding people at online help forums. Online help forums are avenues for people who share the same concerns to come together and seek help and advice from others who have been in similar situations. I would expect these help forums to be really a source of help to those in need. In the first place, the forum was put up as a site to help others not talk about others. The one member that you are talking about who talks about other people is what we call a “toxic friend”. These friends are the ones who influence you in a bad way. They breed negative vibes around themselves and in so doing infect the people around them with negative vibes too.

Toxic friends are the kind of friends that you shouldn’t have since they are poisonous and infectious. Yes, people can be that mean but generally they are just the minority. You should just ignore those persons and don’t push them for gossip. In the long run, all the members of your forum will recognize that person for what she/he is and probably the administrator of the site will ban him/her. This kind of “people bashing” at forums don’t normally happen always and the site admin should always make sure that the help forum does not become a “toxic” forum. Be relieved to know that they are just the minority. There are more good people than there are bad…Hopefully…

POISE Answers: WiseVoter, the southerners probably would if they were really die-hard southerners. For them, it would be blasphemous if Obama were elected to the top position in the land. They would consider it sacrilege and yes would really turn over in their graves and might just get their boney selves up and protest about having an African American as president.

Racism as you know is still fairly prevalent regardless of the advancements today that we have. Although we have made significant changes and achievements towards eradicating racism, this is still a deeply rooted problem that exists to divide the unity of a nation. Quite stupid actually if you ask me. Color of the skin does not make a person any less than they are. Its just a color! What matters is that the heart is in the right place.

Being a racist means you are being an idiot for thinking that the color of your skin matters. Obama has already made history in America by being the first ever African American to be nominated to the highest position of the land and he might just be the first African American to become PRESIDENT. HE represents to the majority of the population, a means of change for a better America. He has become a symbol of hope for a better nation. He might be the catalyst for positive change. A bearer of reforms and he might be the ending to the war in Iraq. I am casting my lot in this direction. I vote for peace and for change. I am rooting for Obama!
